The Insight_E Project

Europe, as other parts of the world, finds itself under the pressure to address the major challenges of a growing dependence on energy imports, climate change, increasing strain on energy resources and the need to ensure access for all consumers to affordable and secure energy. This makes energy policy increasingly complex and influenced by social, economic and environmental factors. While energy policy decisions are fundamentally political decisions, sound, scientific and up-to-date knowledge is critical.

INSIGHT_E provides decision makers from the European Commission with unbiased policy advice and insights on policy options, including an assessment of their potential impact. Moreover, it brings to the attention of policy makers new trends in technology as well as the objectives and activities of important stakeholders that have a key voice in European energy policy-making.

The INSIGHT_E consortium is comprised of a multidisciplinary team of experts from the energy sector, who are experienced in delivering high quality policy advice and have access to a large network of stakeholders.

INSIGHT_E main activities are twofold:

- We produce and share informative resources on European energy policy;

- We run the hereby INSIGHT_E Observatory which hosts our resources and monitors statistical indicators and qualitative signals of the EU transition to sustainable and efficient means of energy consumption and production.

The INSIGHT_E project is a Coordination and Support Action funded by the European Commission under the 7th Framework Programme for Research and Technological Development (Grand Agreement no. m612743). It is coordinated by KTH Royal Institute of Technology.
